Magazine Article: Top 5
Alex came across an intresting find with the magazine article at the bottom of the magazine article about "Hansel & Gretel: Which Hunters" it displayed a top 5 body count at the bottom to show what the film is about and who the character is.
Magazine Article Text First Draft
Alex started with one of the tasks that needed to been done alongside of the short film:
Think of the web-series 'VGHS' (Video Game High School) and the feature film 'The Condemned', combine them together and the result of that is 'Death Show'.
Think of the web-series 'VGHS' (Video Game High School) and the feature film 'The Condemned', combine them together and the result of that is 'Death Show'.
Alex McCluskey Actor/Writer/Director; Luke McCluskey Actor; Callumn Davison Editor; Matthew Lovell Actor are all here to give an unusual combination, but still possibly one of the favourite action short films. The fighting show includes 'Hades' and the 'Hawk' fighting against each other, within the final for World Recognition. About 2 months after the web-series VGHS (Video Game High School) came out, A.McCluskey had an idea of doing a more deadly film, by then combining that idea with another idea, from the film 'The Condemned'. "The whole concept of 'Death Show' came to me, when I discovered the YouTube channel 'Freddiew', which showed and taught me that it's possible to create a successful short film, as long as you explain the idea within the film. But if Callumn (Editor) hadn't told me about VGHS then 'Death Show' wouldn't have been created". When the team of this film initially go together they firstly wanted to do a animation film, but as there was only one true editor, they then realised that a animation film with just one editor would be extremely difficult and would take too much time. Once they had the idea of 'Death Show', some part of the story was originally going to be that Alex (Hades) and Luke (The Hawk), in the story they would be brothers at war, but this was changed for the reason that they felt they didn't have enough time to explain within the film, the how and why stage. We then asked A.McCluskey on why he feels like he has to explain nearly everything in his films; his response was this, "I just get so annoyed at any films that don't explain for why their characters do this, within their films. This just shows that the writer hasn't really put any deep thought into their creation".
When you first watch this film, you will quickly notice the unusual names for the two main characters, which includes 'Hades' and 'The Hawk'. We firstly asked Luke (brother Alex), who plays the role of 'The Hawk', for the reason of the name. "When Alex first told me the name of my role, I first asked 'why that name', he quickly told me that you are going to be show with the best sniper skills". Within the film Alex does explain the names for both 'The Hawk' and 'Hades'. The reason for the name 'Hades' is that it was taken from the Greek God 'Hades', who was the 'God of the Underworld' and showed no mercy to any souls. For this film, we feel that there is a strong possibility of a second film, but that can only happen if the public really enjoy 'Death Show' like we have and then wanting more. We then asked the question to everyone from this film, 'What would the 2nd film look like, if there was one?' "I think I can speak for everyone that we would all be involved in a 2nd film, if no real issues occur". Alex started with no objections, he then continued to say that "if there was a 2nd film, there's a possibility of the film diving into the world of 'Death Show', to see what society is like and how has it turned out". Callumn (Editor) quickly added "We could also dive into the beginning of 'Death Show', to show how it all began". "If there was a 2nd film, I would like to be involved in one of those ideas was for the 2nd film". Matt (Actor) stated. "I agree with that too and I hope that the public will enjoy 'Death Show'".
Well that shows Callumn does have some input into the writing of the 2nd film and I believe that Callumn, also had some input into the writing of the 'Death Show'. Well whatever the public thinks about 'Death Show', good or bad, we will always enjoy the film and we will always hope for a second film.
Chracacter Name Change
During some of the filming process one of group member alex wanted to change the name of the charcter he was playing, he researched into some better names to use and decided upon using Hades and Greek God.
Editing Problem
When we had finished out filming i notcied when it came to post processing the footage, the footage size was all differnt so we had to take the size of each footage and base an avarage ratio to maintain quality and the framed action.
